3 benefits of using a continuous ink system

Posted: 06 Dec 2017

How does a continuous ink system work?

A continuous ink system is a method used for delivering large volumes of ink to an inkjet printhead. These systems typically use an external ink tank, which is attached to your printer cartridges, usually using tubing. Pressure allows the ink to drip feed ink from the external ink tank (for a more detailed explanation, check out Mariotte’s bottle principle!), to your printer cartridges, where it goes through your printer as it normally would.

What are the benefits of using a continuous ink system?

  1. they make printing simpler

A continuous ink system is easy to install and makes the process of replacing your inks much simpler. Using a continuous ink system also means you never have to replace your cartridges – you simply have to fill up the external ink tank.

It also makes it much easier to see when you’re running low on ink and need a top up – no more guess work, relying on printer warnings, or getting a frustrating surprise when your print comes out faded because you’ve run out of ink half way through.

  1. they can help you save money

Continuous Ink Systems can help make your printing more efficient and cost-effective. Because they allow you to bulk buy ink at lower costs than printer cartridges, most manufacturers of these systems suggest that users can save around 80-90% when compared to the original equipment. For this reason, Continuous Ink Systems are used by lots of businesses that need bigger printing capacities. This is especially useful for people – such as photographers – who are likely to print high volumes.

  1. print output is just as good

Much of the criticism of Continuous Ink Systems is that they don’t produce high-quality prints. These days, this simply isn’t true. With a Continuous Ink System, ink is consistently applied to your paper, achieving smooth and professional results. In the 12 years Fotospeed have been offering Continuous Ink Systems to the photographic market, we’ve developed our products to ensure the highest quality possible. When Amateur Photographer reviewed our R3000 InkFlow tubeless system, not only did they award it 5 stars, but they agreed that the quality matched that of Epson’s own inks!

Fotospeed have recently introduce tubeless inkflow systems. You still have the benefits of saving up to 80% on OEM inks but with the introduction of larger volume cartridges in the Epson R3000 & SC-P600 they have introduced a refillable cartridge system.

We offer a whole range of continuous InkFlow systems that really last, with a lifetime warranty on all parts, Free custom and generic profiling, and Free A3 test pack of Fotospeed paper. Click here to check out the full range.
