Digital Imaging Group - Digital Capture of the Natural World 2019

9th June

For our third event of 2019, South East DI Group is delighted to be hosting not one, but two photographers widely admired and applauded for the quality and range of their digital images capturing wide-ranging subjects in the natural world.

They are Rachael Talibart and Ann Healey ARPS DPAGB EFIAP BPE2*.

Rachael will concentrate on coastal landscape photography. In two sessions, she will use her portfolio of award-winning images to explore not only all the usual technical aspects of working in such a beautiful but often challenging environment, but also, to ask more thought-provoking questions about what we understand by ‘landscape' photography in the digital age, pushing at the boundaries between nature and creative photography?

Ann, too, will show us her portfolio of outstanding wildlife images, focusing on two very different subjects within the nature photography genre that are dear to her heart. Her first session will explore a variety of macro photography subjects - ready yourself for a bonanza of wonderful bugs, bugs and more bugs! The second session will move up-scale, exploring the vivid, sometimes fantastic, flora and fauna of Costa Rica.

Photography Printing Masterclass - Light and Land

6th - 7th July

Tutored by Adrian Beasley and Andy Farrer

Printing is the pinnacle of the photographic process. The final, and many people believe, most satisfying step, but one that is so often missing in our Insta-book world.  If you want to start printing at home, have been struggling with printing, or want to prepare images for a commercial printer then this workshop is for you.

During this two-day workshop you will learn about the full printing process from two experienced and enthusiastic printers, Andy and Adrian.  You will learn how to set up your computer, colour management, interpret, edit and prepare your images before finally printing them on a range of papers and finishes.  Based at the commercial Fine Art Ink printers in Swanage, you will have access to a brand new large format printer and a range of specialist art papers. We will also take advantage of the location to take some images which we can use during the workshop.

Lakes and Cakes 2019

15th November

Cambrian Photography - Led by Paul Sanders and Denis Hocking.

This year we have decided to base ourselves in the beautiful Grasmere valley, which was where Wordsworth wandered lonely as a cloud and wrote his poem about Daffodils. His romantic view of the world was inspired by the landscape around him.

A highlight of the trip will be the image review sessions at the end of each day and you will be taking home a print of your best photograph to remind you of the exciting and inspirational weekend of photography in one of the UK's most beautiful and iconic National Parks.

The Workshop will not include strenuous and serious hiking and, therefore, should be within the capabilities of any reasonably fit people.
