Bluebells from Camera to Print

May 1st

Tutored by Doug Chinnery and Valda Bailey

What could be more quintessentially English than a stunning Beech woodland at dawn in the spring, as the sun rises, casting its warm rays over a carpet of bluebells. Add a fine mist and we have photographic heaven!

No landscape photographers’ portfolio is complete without some glorious images of a perfect bluebell wood. That is what we aim to help you capture during the dawn shoot on this one day workshop, with Doug Chinnery and Valda Bailey in Savernake Forest near Marlborough. Light and Land have been granted special access by the landowners, into one of the finest Beech woodlands in England. It has a breath-taking display of bluebells as far as the eye can see.

Black and White Photography in the City, London

May 3rd

Tutored by Paul Sanders and Adrian Beasley

Learning to see in black and white is a challenge in a world dominated by colour, but if you can master the basics you can convey really powerful emotions with your photography. Without the distraction of colour to wow your viewer you really on light, line, texture and expression in a much bigger way than in colour photography. That said an awareness of colour and its effect on the palette of grey, white and black is a one of the keys to success.

During this workshop we will explore some parts of London during the first half of the day, looking at how to make strong powerful images, using contrast and light to help guide the eye through your images as well as shoot a few challenges to get you thinking in shades of grey.
