Bude, Cornwall. Print & Processing photography workshop
April 28th- May 2nd
Tutored by Antony Spencer and Joe Cornish
The April/May 2019 Leading Lights print workshop is based in Bude, an excellent centre from which to explore Cornwall’s north coast (and also, western north Devon’s), and includes specific training in print workflow and production, as well as our usual fieldwork sessions. North of Bude the coast faces due west, making beaches such as Sandy Mouth a classic sunset destination. Welcombe Mouth and Hartland Quay are other great locations further north, while Widemouth Bay and Milook Haven are geological wonders just west of Bude.
Bluebells from Camera to Print Photography Workshop
Tutored by Andy Farrer
What could be more quintessentially English than a stunning Beech woodland at dawn in the spring, as the sun rises, casting its warm rays over a carpet of bluebells. Add a fine mist and we have photographic heaven!
No landscape photographer's portfolio is complete without some glorious images of a perfect bluebell wood. This is what we aim to help you capture during the dawn shoot on this one day photography workshop with Andy Farrer in Savernake Forest near Marlborough. Light and Land have been granted special access by the landowners into one of the finest Beech woodlands in England. It has a breath-taking display of bluebells as far as the eye can see!
Lands End Cornwall Print and Processing Workshop
Tutored by Antony Spencer and Joe Cornish
The May 2019 Leading Lights workshop is based in the Lands End hotel, a simply unique place from which to explore Cornwall's ‘uttermost west’ and includes specific training in print workflow and production, as well as our usual fieldwork sessions. Although inevitably popularised in touristic terms by its status as England’s most westerly point, the cliff scenery here remains almost unmatched for its wild beauty. A great bonus for us is that the wonders literally start at the back doorstep, and will minimise the need to drive. We can take advantage of fast-changing weather conditions in a way that is impossible in most places. Depending on the weather and our progress with the printing element of the workshop we can also find amazing landscape at nearby Porthcurno, St Michaels Mount, Porth Nanven (with its famous granite boulders), Cape Cornwall and the iconic tin mining landscape of Botallack.

Black and White Developing and Printing Workshop
Black & White images encourage creativity in a way that colour often doesn’t. We feel more at ease pushing the boundaries and the viewer expects monochrome images to be “artistic”.
This workshop is focused on creating high impact Black & White images. We will look at various ways to use Lightroom, Photoshop and SilverEFX to convert and develop your images. Finally, we will look at optimising your images for print. We will have a professional printer on hand and everyone will be able to take away at least 1 A3 image.

Digital Imaging Group - Digital Capture of the Natural World 2019
For our third event of 2019, South East DI Group is delighted to be hosting not one, but two photographers widely admired and applauded for the quality and range of their digital images capturing wide-ranging subjects in the natural world.
They are Rachael Talibart and Ann Healey ARPS DPAGB EFIAP BPE2*.
Rachael will concentrate on coastal landscape photography. In two sessions, she will use her portfolio of award-winning images to explore not only all the usual technical aspects of working in such a beautiful but often challenging environment, but also, to ask more thought-provoking questions about what we understand by ‘landscape' photography in the digital age, pushing at the boundaries between nature and creative photography?
Ann, too, will show us her portfolio of outstanding wildlife images, focusing on two very different subjects within the nature photography genre that are dear to her heart. Her first session will explore a variety of macro photography subjects - ready yourself for a bonanza of wonderful bugs, bugs and more bugs! The second session will move up-scale, exploring the vivid, sometimes fantastic, flora and fauna of Costa Rica.
