An Even Wilder Night Out with Chris Packham and Paul Goldstein

November 12th-20th - various venues

Last November Chris and Paul Goldstein wowed and shocked audiences in equal measure with a dazzling and provocative ‘wild night out’.

This year they are increasing their efforts across the UK and coming to four venues, and Fotospeed are proud to sponser this event alongside Exodus Travel

During the evening they will take turns to present their top ten photographs, and the extreme and hilarious lengths they go to in pursuit of the ever-eluding perfect image. Chris, known for his stunning, award winning photography, will be concentrating on his expedition to South Georgia last autumn with Paul and a hundred Antarctic pilgrims. Chris goes to great lengths to achieve the perfect image, the stories and details of which he relays to the audience with his natural humour and thought provoking commentary. Paul Goldstein of Exodus Travels has been guiding tours in Antarctica, the Arctic, Brazil, Namibia and Kenya over the last year and presents his images from around the world and the different lengths he goes to for his perfect picture.

As well as presenting their own work and the interesting and often hilarious stories of how they achieved them, they will both take the time to pass comment on and critique each others photographs, scoring them out of ten.

The show will finish with a short charity auction in aid of the Rainwater Harvest project in Kenya for the Maa Trust.

These four evenings should be interesting, funny, inspiring – and wild . . .

April 28th- May 2nd -2019

Tutored by Antony Spencer and Joe Cornish

The Fotospeed Academy is delighted to work with ‘The Dragon’ herself Margaret Salisbury, to help support and advise you on putting together your own panel.

The April/May 2019 Leading Lights print workshop is based in Bude, an excellent centre from which to explore Cornwall’s north coast (and also, western north Devon’s), and includes specific training in print workflow and production, as well as our usual fieldwork sessions. North of Bude the coast faces due west, making beaches such as Sandy Mouth a classic sunset destination. Welcombe Mouth and Hartland Quay are other great locations further north, while Widemouth Bay and Milook Haven are geological wonders just west of Bude.

Lands End Cornwall Print and Processing Workshop

May 8th-12th -2019

Tutored by Antony Spencer and Joe Cornish

The May 2019 Leading Lights workshop is based in the Lands End hotel, a simply unique place from which to explore Cornwall's ‘uttermost west’ and includes specific training in print workflow and production, as well as our usual fieldwork sessions. Although inevitably popularised in touristic terms by its status as England’s most westerly point, the cliff scenery here remains almost unmatched for its wild beauty. A great bonus for us is that the wonders literally start at the back doorstep, and will minimise the need to drive. We can take advantage of fast-changing weather conditions in a way that is impossible in most places. Depending on the weather and our progress with the printing element of the workshop we can also find amazing landscape at nearby Porthcurno, St Michaels Mount, Porth Nanven (with its famous granite boulders), Cape Cornwall and the iconic tin mining landscape of Botallack.
