What is the difference between a generic profile and a custom profile?
Profiling and Calibrating FAQ's -
As mentioned above, each printer interprets colours slightly differently. Therefore some printers will work well with generic profiles but some may not and therefore will not produce accurate colours using them. If this is the case, we then suggest to get custom ICC profiles created.
A generic profile is produced from a printer which will be the same make and model as the printer you are using. As this is not created directly for use with your printer it is unlikely to fully maximise the potential of your printer.
A custom profile is bespoke and specific to your printer so should ensure your printer is producing the most accurate colours.
