From darkroom to Lightroom, my passion is still for monochrome images.
Extensive travelling over the past twenty years has provided me with a wide range of subject matter for my graphic and ‘fine art’ approach to photography. People, architectural details, landscapes, botanical subjects, and abstracts are all wonderful sources for stand-alone images or small panels of work.
For me the print is everything. The journey from initial conception of a photographic project to the finished image can take twelve months or more, and the final realisation of images for printing and exhibition is the logical conclusion to that journey.
My work has featured in periodicals including National Geographic Traveller and Black and White Photography, and has also appeared in a number of exhibitions, both joint and solo, venues including the Mall Galleries, London and RPS headquarters in Bath.
I am active on the club circuit with presentations and judging, mostly with my wife, Sue O’Connell, fellow Fotospeed photographer.
