I am a freelance photographer living in Sussex. I first became passionate about photography when I was 14.
My approach to photography is greatly informed by my background in painting and my influences come as much from artists as photographers. I am motivated by colour and form and the tension and dynamism that these components can bring to an image.
My objectives are to portray an interpretation of a scene rather than a literal representation. I have spent time in New York under the expert tutelage of noted street photographer, Jay Maisel and have been greatly influenced by his teaching about light, colour and gesture.
I love Fotospeed papers for their dependable quality and ability to render rich blacks and strong contrasts with fine detail - not always easy with matte papers. My paper of choice is the brand new, slightly textured paper, Cotton Etching 305, developed in conjunction with my friend and teaching partner, Doug Chinnery. I produced all the prints for my last exhibition on it and will continue to do so for upcoming shows.
