Joe Cornish has been a working photographer for thirty-five years, most of which have been devoted to travel and especially landscape. Current work includes his own photography, workshop leading, book commissions, writing, printing, dog-walking… and gardening…while struggling to come to terms with the inevitable contradictions of being a photographer who has to travel, and a committed environmentalist (who should probably not).
Printing is a central part of his practice; a self-taught monochrome darkroom printer in the 1980s, he has printed digitally (mainly in colour) since 2007. Having worked closely with Fotospeed for many years Joe encouraged them to develop and introduce the OBA-free smooth-textured fine art matte paper, Platinum Cotton 305 in 2018.
Joe is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, and now Chair of the RPS Fellowship Committee; and as a resident of North Yorkshire he is also a Trustee of the North York Moors National Park Trust.
